Proper Use
Compliance is Critical!
  • Wear your night guard every night to prevent the damaging effects of bruxism.

  • If adjusting is difficult, wear it a few hours each day, gradually working up to a full night.

Using Your Night Guard

  • Rinse well with water before placing it in your mouth.

  • Place it in your mouth using your fingers, not by biting it into place.

  • Rinse well with water after use and store it dry in its case. Do not wrap it in a napkin or paper towel.

  • Never soak your night guard in any liquid (mouthwash, denture cleanser, hot water) except as instructed for cleaning.

  • Store it in its case away from direct sunlight.

  • Important: Keep it out of reach of dogs; they might see it as a chew toy.

  • Bring your night guard to dental appointments, especially for restorative work, so we can check for wear and fit.

Proper Care
Include your night guard in your daily oral health routine for optimal maintenance.

Daily Cleaning Instructions

  • Immediately after wear: Rinse with warm water to remove debris and plaque.

  • Brush lightly: Use your soft-bristle toothbrush to give it a light brushing. Avoid toothpaste as it's too abrasive. Use liquid dish detergent with lukewarm water instead.

  • Dry completely: Lay it on a clean, dry washcloth on a flat surface to dry completely before storing.

  • Store properly: Always keep your night guard in its case when not in use.

Steps for Deep Cleaning

  1. Soak in Vinegar: Use a glass or bowl (nothing metal) and soak the night guard in distilled white vinegar for 30 minutes. Set a timer to avoid oversoaking

  2. Rinse: After soaking, rinse the night guard and bowl with lukewarm water.

  3. Soak in hydrogen peroxide: Follow up by soaking the night guard in hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes to bleach discolorations and neutralize the vinegar taste. Set a timer to avoid oversoaking.

  4. Rinse and dry: Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, place it on a clean dry washcloth on a flat surface, and allow it to dry completely before returning it to its case.

  5. Clean the case: Hand wash the case every few days with liquid dish detergent. Allow it to dry completely to prevent bacterial growth.
